Over the past few months, the North West, and North East & Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service Alliances (GMSAs) have been working with Health Innovation Consortium, in partnership with AHLC Solutions in delivering regional discovery in support of the regional Digital DNA project.
The Digital DNA project was implemented to develop an investment case for digital genomic infrastructures covering the North of England, including the mapping of digital systems and business needs for genomic pathways from referring cancer and non-cancer organisations across the regions. This information will be used to develop a strategic roadmap across the full partnership, embedding genomic data into routine healthcare.
Proactive engagement with clinical, information governance, technical, IT, and operational stakeholders, as well as commissioners, was undertaken via a variety of engagement methods, including workshops, interviews, surveys, the ‘A look into the future of Genomics’ webinar, and though leadership podcast which was a first for the HIC. During the podcast, Stuart Bayliss, Alliance Director for the North West GMSA, and Hadleigh Stollar, CEO of HIC discuss the basics of Genomic Medicine including some of the main benefits and barriers to the service, as well as the incredible work that the GMSAs are producing to deliver the benefits of Genomic Medicine to the NHS across England.
