The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has launched a consultation inviting input on its forthcoming Pharmacogenomic Resource for all Prescribers.
Commissioned by the NHS England Network of Excellence in Pharmacogenomics and Medicines Optimisation, the resource is intended to support prescribers in integrating pharmacogenomic principles into current prescribing competencies and everyday practice. It will provide background information, practical case studies, and links to relevant tools and educational resources to aid personalised prescribing.
As part of the consultation, the RPS is also seeking views on whether additional pharmacogenomic-specific competencies are needed, or whether updates should be proposed to the existing Competency Framework for all Prescribers.
Feedback is welcomed from a wide range of stakeholders, including:
- Prescribers who are already applying pharmacogenomics in practice
- Prescribers who have an interest in using pharmacogenomics
- Organisations that employ or represent prescribers
- Individuals and organisations with experience of the Competency Framework for all Prescribers
The consultation will remain open until 9 January 2026.
Contributions from respondents will help ensure the final resource is clear, relevant and applicable across all prescribing professions and care settings throughout the UK.
